Bumper painting..
Whilst daydreaming on the jet... I thought of this. I have the ugly grey bumpers with the ugly chrome front and back. Do you think if I took them off, layed some DIY bedliner on it, and painted it black with my paint skills, that they would turn out ok? I would think the bedliner material would stick well and be a good base on the chrome, and that stuff usually accepts paint very well.

From the bedliner I've seen I can't imagine paint would stick very well to it, it will be very textured in any case. I know I had talked to a few bodyshops about painting that front bumper when I had the grey one on mine and they told me it would be cheaper to get a new primered bumper and have that painted.
I've done it to mine. When you get here, you can check mine out. You have to sand the bumper or have it sandblasted. Use a coat of self etching primer, then regular primer. Wet sand it. Hit it with a couple of coats, wet sand it and then hit it with a final coat. Clear coat it and call it a day.
Hmm I didn't think it could be done with just paint, I was planning on Herculiner Superdak... and it is like a think film of bedliner from what I read it isn't a lot of texture. In order to do the bed it would take multiple coats.
BUT, if I don't have to use it I'd rather not, thanks Billy.

Hey man, when you get here I will help you paint it if you want. I have a air compresser with 20 gallon tank, HPLV automotive paint sprayer.
With my bumpers
1. Sanded them
2. Hit them with self etching primer
3. Hit with auto primer
4. Wet sanded with 800 grit sand paper
5. Sparyed with paint
6. Clear coated
You can herculiner them if you want. I learned this after the paint job I had done on my truck peeled off. It was never properly primed. I'm at three month and all is good so far.
