Breaks
How many miles has everyone been getting with their brakes? I have 57k and "KOW" no break problems so far but time for an inspection? I'm thinking when it comes time I'll just have the factory rotors turned and factory pads installed since they seem to worked good so far. Was thinking of going with EBC drilled/slotted rotors & pad but I don't know if it’s worth the cost.
I have about 50k on the truck and I havnt had a brake job yet. 2 weeks ago When I rotated my tires the front pads had about 35-40% pad left. I estimate I won't need brakes for another year or so. I have a stick shift though.
I think the stick shift makes a huge difference. I have always had a stick until I bought the Dakota and I feel like I am always on the brakes trying to slow this thing down.
FWIW I just changed out the front pads and rotors on my 05 with 38k. Pads were gone and rotors (especially the backside) were f&^%&d

Interesting. I'm at near 90K right now, with no issues, other than dust build-up. Going to swap out tires on Saturday, seem to be going through those like TP and have brake inspection done again to see how low things are though.
I am thinking of going to ceramic pads just because I really dislike the brake dust on my wheels...

I did my front pads and rotors at about 65k. I went with the cheapest pads they sold at Advance Auto Parts and I hated them, the squeeking and brake dust nearly drove me crazy! I recently put the Wagner Thermo Quiet pads on and couldn't be happier.
I got about 50,000 miles out of the stockers...and they were shot...like 1/16th left shot. I had been into the wear squeekers for a while. Replaced with OEM Rotors and the Wagner Thermo Quiets.
Curtice, I would reconsider the full ceramics. I have found that they eat rotors....and then the rotors warp badly after about 30,000 miles of use. This is what happened on the old Ranger. And I even got the better rotors to ease the pain.....because I was told before I bought them that they would eat rotors. I have to learn the hard way.
