Default Lost power steering, brakes, and acceleration. Ideas?

2005 Dodge Dakota, 96k miles on it. 2 months ago I lost acceleration while driving, turned out to be a camshaft position sensor, had it replaced. Tonight, same thing: the battery light came on and I lost acceleration, pressing the gas got absolutely nothing out of it. Then while I was coasting to slow down, my power steering was out, tried to press the brakes but realized they too were out. Ended up pulling the wheel to the side pretty hard and hitting the e-brake just as I hit the side of the road. Almost hit a couple cars trying to pull the truck around a turn.

Turned it off, turned it back on(within 10 seconds) and I had power steering/brakes/acceleration, but the battery light was still on.

Second time this has happened in 2 months and it worries me since it's our only vehicle and I had a 5 year old that rides with me alot.

I've heard of shorts in ignition systems causing problems like this.

It may sound stupid, but are you sure your battery isn't dead or your gas gauge is broken and you think you have gas?
