Default Details on setting up a breather filter

So I want to prevent oil blow by from going through my intake and everything by setting up a breather. I know there are threads on this, but Im not sure how to do it exactly on our application for the 4.7l. I know there is a vaccum hose going from the oil fill tube that connects to the PCV valve. If I put a breather filter off the oil fill tube, what do I do with the open vaccum hose? Is this the correct method for setting up a breather? Thanks for your input.

It would be better to run the vacuum hose from the intake to a catch can, then from the catch can to the PCV. This way, you still get crank case ventilation from the intake, but the catch can will catch the oil and seperate it from the air. Or, you could cap off the barb on the intake and run the line from the PCV to a vented catch can. This is way I did on my talon. This way, you don't get the hot air into the intake.

If I capped off the vaccum hose running in to the intake, and put a breather filter on instead of the pcv valve, I would still get ventilation and everything would work out, correct? Because the idea of a pcv is to vent the crankcase, but its hooked up to a vaccum from the intake for emissions, also correct? Thanks a lot for you help.

I would just run a cheap ebay catch can... they are like 20 bucks.
Ok, dont want to mess with that then! Ill start looking for a catch can .... Do the cheap ones work ok or is it something I should invest some money in to?

Alright, so Im looking at this catch can:

I figured I probably wanted to get something around that price range so I dont end up with junk.

Heres another question: My engine has about 100k on it so Im sure the PCV system has alot of oil thats gone through it and coated my intake. Ive already replaced the PCV valve, but do I want to take some cleaner and put it through the vaccum hose to try and just dissolve some of the oil thats coated in there? Im thinking maybe pour small amounts of regular gas down the vaccum tube to clean up all the oil in it. Just thinking out loud here.

Im worried about seafoam .... doesnt sound like the best thing for your engine. I know people swear by it, but it just doesnt seem normal .... Maybe Im over thinking it?

You pour it slowly (engine running, but dont stall it) in to that same vaccum hose that is connected to the PCV valve, correct?
