Default Decal residue

OK. I finally got the nerve up and removed the 4x4 decals off the sides. I thought I cleaned it up pretty good with, "Goo-be-gone". However, the wind blew yesterday, (again) and the truck got all dusty. Now I can see outlined in fine dust, where the decals used to be. What can I use to totally clean it up?

I use gasoline to remove residue .... works like a charm. For the really tough residue, I use nitro methane (A fuel used in radio controlled cars) but that can strip a lot more than just residue so its only when I really cant get something off. After its cleaned, you will probably want to get a good layer of polish on there along with some wax. It probably will be visible for a while because the paint underneath where the decals was has been protected for 5 years while the other stuff hasnt. So clean any residue, polish and wax. Within a month you shouldnt see much, if anything at all.

just curious as to why guys are taking off the 4x4 decals on the sides of your trucks???? ...it looks so "plain" without anything there....(I know, opinions are like ***holes....everyone has one...haha)

I just dont like advertising. I like the clean look.

Plus, on the rare occasion where Im at the light on a rainy day and someone thinks they want to get in front of me, I can just put it in 4x4 and they get a suprised look on their face when I dont spin a tire. Its only happened once.

#1 heat the decal with a blow dryer or heat gun.
#2 pull the decal off
#3 use some adhesive remove the remaining adhesive
#4 wax over the surface

The best stuff.. is around $14 a can. It's called 3M adhesive remover. I work in the sign and decal industry, and that is all I use to get tough adhesive off. Spray it on.. wait 3-4 seconds.. it turns any remaining adhesive into a quick gel, just wipe it right off.

You can buy it at your local Wal-Mart in the car paint/car accessory section (with the bondo :P)
