i like the idea of putting a pipe w/ a scoop on it. i guess ur talking about
coming out of the front of the airbox where the snorkel was. might be dif on 3gen.
i don't have any room to go any lower but i think i can get closer to the front of the truck. i'll see if i can find the pick but i've seen ppl put a scoop right between the radiator and headlight. looks like a square 'cuda tail pipe.

i know vht makes a ceramic coating "flameproof" in a can, i used it on my muffler might work on the intake w/ like 10 coats. i've seen the tape used on cai's too.

Yup, planning on coming out the same hole in the front of the box as the stock snorkel. I tried seeing if I could sneak something between the radiator and the headlight, but there isnt much room because of the windshield washer fluid resivior. I think Im doing it tonight, so Ill post pics when its done

you cant fit a 3" pip in there but if you get a square scoop like 2"x6" it might just fit.
but i think the truck i saw it on said he had to relocate the pcm or maybe it was a resivior.
we like pics

Ok, so I picked up some galvanized heating duct. For the scoop, I have a 6" to 3" adapter that I heated up with the torch and flatened it down slighly on two sides to make it fit in that gap in the bumper. I need to go pick up some JB Weld because I need to attatch the pipe to the scoop, but that shouldnt be a problem. Now, Im looking at running the pipe up the fender to the air box, because through the engine compartment is going to be too tight for 3" pipe. Plus, this way it will be out of sight, and I dont have to worry about something coming loose and flying in to the fan or something stupid. Now, I have a problem because where the scoop goes in the bumper, I run the pipe off of that but I have to run it down in a "u" shape to get around the coolant tank .... Im not sure if I want to do that because I dont want rain to build up in there, but Im thinking Ill drill 2 small drain holes and that should work. The other thing Im pondering is if I should just run plastic tube up the fender from the scoop instead of doing all 3" galvanized heating duct. It would be a lot cheaper, and should have the same affect.
