K&N Air Filter
I've had them on my last three vehicles. I've never gone so far as to do the whole intake system, just the filter. For the most part mileage and horsepower gains were negligible. But they rate them by percentage of increase, not actual gains. What I can say is that once putting it in, I have NEVER bought another filter. My last vehicle put over 200,000 miles on one filter and was still in primo condition. When it gets dirty, clean it. So in that regard, it paid for itself many times over.
If you do have an 05, E-Bay is selling them for about $49 after you include shipping which is about $6 cheaper than the auto parts store. That's 2 1/2 gals of gas!

I have a question, All of the ones that i look for on ebay say they fit from older models. the part number is 33-2175. According to people on ebay that fits various years of the dakota, so therfore you could buy a used one???. I think thats what im gonna do, since its cheaper.

I've added the K&N Air-Filter myself to my 05 Dakota. As far as actual stats sorry i have none. But what i can tell you is this. The truck does respond better plus now with the new filter i can actually hear the air being pulled into the engine where with the stock filter i didnt. I also have added a Flowmaster 40 Single center in and Dual Outs which has also helped out. now with that i could tell a difference off the line and up to mid 3rd gear. I've very happy with both changes.
If you have any other questions or problems by all means please let me know and i'll try to help out. I'm in the process of adding the Westin Bull Bar to soon so that should be exciting.
I've got more pictures of the truck and exhaust and even some videos on my website if your interested in checking them out and got a free minute come on by.
Post some pics of your upgrades i've love to see them.
Have Fun.
Jim.
(Edited: P.S. Here's a DIY I did myself ( CLICK HERE ) for the K&N Air Filter. I know it was a simple task but it gave me a chance to use my new camera and something to do (I'm disabled so i have a lot of spare time to try and figure out things to do with my time) plus i got to be around my New Dodge Truck Woot...

Had to take my K&N filter off my truck. My truck normally runs within .04 seconds, after installing the K&N filter the truck slowed down almost a half second and times were very erratic. As near as I can figgure the oil they put on the filter was getting on the MAF sensor, causing contamination of the sensor. After reinstalling the stock filter my 1/4 times returned to normal.
