What about firming up the transmission? Longer times between shifts, firmer shifts, etc. tow/haul gives a little longer times between shifts, but does nothing for firming up the shifts....

Transgo makes a reprogramming kit for the 545rfe transmission. It requires you to drop the pan, replace some springs and put a resistor in.

Do those superchip tuner things actually work? It's not some gimmick like the magic +50 hp, +60 mpg "bargains" you can find on ebay?

No no no! The superchips is rated at +18RWHP and IMO, was the best $285 I spent on my truck. Now, for an extra $40 you can get transmission tuning upgrade allowing you to change every shift point and change the TM which will firm up your shift. They are awesome additions that do work.

The ones on ebay are gimmics that are just garbage. Superchips is quality.

Agreed, and they have dyno time/sheets to prove it

I got the cortex for the supposed extra warranty. If you aren't worried about that, then save your cash and put it towards the trans tuning.

Only difference is the warranty and the extra vehicles is can be used on... Cortex has the ability to be used with diesels and an extra yr of warranty, thats it.
