Science and dynos dictate yes. Apparently that's just my opinion though. It isn't huge though and it is still worth the mod for mid-upper like Eric said. Also, like I said, coupled with other power mods, it is a must have piece of hardware.

As long as I dont lose as much bottom end as I did with my dual 2.5" exhaust Ill be fine. I do like having the top end over bottom end though since I dont tow anything. I will hopefully get it installed tonight, I picked up the gaskets from Napa. I think those O rings go in the idle control sensor.

Default TB Installed

I picked up the gaskets from Napa earlier today. Only costed $6 for all three, and I was supposed to get charged $5 for shipping so something didnt ring up right even though the guy told me it was the right price after I asked. I got the old TB removed and the hardest part was getting the Idle Control Sensor out and I was afraid of breaking the cruise control attachment. It was pretty gunked up on the back, but I avoided cleaning the IC sensor because I wasnt sure how to clean it. The 2 O-rings that I bought did indeed go on that sensor. Im happy I picked up the mounting gasket too, as the old one was dry rotted and pretty nasty. Pictures below:

New gaskets installed:

Stock and Polished side by side:

Stock with thottle blade open:

Stock (Dull finished is a tapered edge which is removed on the polished one):

Polished (Tapered edge removed):

Polished with throttle blade open (Much less restriction):

Installed:

The only thing Im going to do next is take the old throttle blade and knife the one edge and see how it turns out. If I ruin it, no biggy and if it turns out then I will install it.

I only started it up and took it a quarter mile down the block. No check engine light or anything and it runs fine so I didnt mess anything up that I know of. I noticed a distinct whistle during light throttle applications, and a lot better throttle response. Now it seems a lot more touchy. Ill take it on the freeway tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

On a side note, I did notice one thing which Im sure will increase throttle response at light throttle: If you look at the stock TB, it has that tapered edge on the front. On the bottom half of the TB, when you open the throttle a little bit, no air gets past on the bottom because its blocked by the taper and only a small gap can be seen on the top half of the TB. It goes till about 20% throttle and there is definetly blockage. On the polished TB, the second you move the throttle you can see a gap so I expected that throttle to be very touchy between 1-25% or so.

For the idle air control sensor, does anyone know how I can clean that? It is pretty gunked up with blow by.

Yup, thats the one. Definetly a piece of quality work and not done by someone who just decided to port and polish a TB one day. Only thing I didnt like is the outside of it was spray painted, so when I went to spray it with TB cleaner some of the paint didnt hold up but its nearly impossible to get it all off. Good news is my truck isnt a show truck so no one will see it anyways.

Does anyone know how to clean the idle air control valve? I know now to use carb cleaner on it because its too harsh, and youre not supposed to use TB cleaner on plastic parts. Would I just use CRC Electronic Cleaner and spray it down good, let it dry and put it back on? I just dont want to destroy this one because a new one will take a couple days to get here. So replace or try and clean it?
It really isnt too bad in terms of causing problems, the truck just lingers at 1,100 RPM after you rev it in park/nuetral when the engine is warm. If you tap the gas again it comes back down to normal.
