Truck died on highway

The engine will still turn if the ignition is cut because the torque converter is locked on and keeps the engine turning down to a certain speed. I was able to do that on all my cars with lockup as well; turn the key off and everything remained engaged down to around 40 kph, whatever that is in mph. Haven't tried it with the truck but I assume it is the same.
