Default Water under passenger floor mat

Alright today I noticed in my 2008 Dakota Quad Cab that I have some water that builds up under my passenger floor mat. Had this once before on a truck. Anyone have an easy fix or familiar with this problem?

Sounds like either a leaking heater code or a leak in your windshield waterproofing.
Both are fixable but not necessarily cheap or easy.

Nah doesn't have the stink of heater core. I looked around and on the cowel the seal isnt sticking it to the windsheild in this one spot. Appears the heat got to it. Any chance this is why my leak is coming from?

I would think it might not stink if the core is leaking, but see if it starts to crystalize. It might be the seal, I would have a wife/gf/friend spray it down while you watch to see if it comes inside.

Good Luck!

Alright, did some more looking, I notice under the truck right at the spot that is wet is a plug like insert if ipush it up the water comes running out. My hand the water ran on doesnt smell the best, but I dont think this is heater core...but honestly I'm not sure...Its like a few inches from the door frame, the plug I speak of is directionly the middle of the spot., almost like a plug that holds water in.

That plug, if it's in the sheet metal of the floor is made to drain liquid that may be inside the cab. It may smell bad because it is stagnant. I would still suggest using the hose to see if you can find if it the leak is from the windshield or the core.

Good Luck.

I would also look at the back of the truck. I have a 94 Dak that collected water in the passenger side floor. I looked everywhere in the front and side that water could get in and couldn't find anything. Finally I pulled the kick panel and the scuff plate and noticed a trail of water coming from the back of the truck. Further investigation found a bad seam in the back of the cab. I hit it with a water hose and there was my leak. A little silicone fixed it. No more wet floor.

Pulled Carpet back, found what appears to be a huge patch in the center around this plug, but the floor appears solid., the grey rubber at bottom of dash that is insulated is soaked like a sponge. I still can't figure out where it is coming from, my guess is the cowl but I'm getting frustrated. I bought it almost a month ago but it was AS-IS thus this is my problem.

I'm going to keep fooling with it, thanks for all your help. Feel free to keep the hints coming.

Sounds like your ac drain hose is clogged. If it is your front pass floor mat. I have had this happen to me. Good luck finding the hose.

Took it to a mechanic I have used for a long time today. Basically the hose running from evaporator is missing a nipple and thus some water runs down the hose into the truck. Looking at around 200 total labor and parts to fix. The part is like 8 bucks...

This is crazy, why would it not have it? I bought the truck not even 30 days ago from a Dodge Dealer but there was no implied warranty. I'm just pretty perturbed over it.
