Default Who is running 265/75/16

For those of you running 265/75/16s, can you let me know how much trimming you did, if you have any rubbing, and if you have noticed any execessive problems with your front end from the bigger size tire?

I ask because its time for some new tires for my 05 dakota. I have 01 ram alloy wheels with 265/75/16 bridgestone duelers on there right now. I trimmed the splash guard and have no rubbing at all. However the tires are pretty much bald, and were maybe 1/4 tread when i put them on. So I haven't had a full height lug of this tire size on the truck ever. I want to put some new 265/75/16 uniroyal liberators on.

I am running Goodyear Authority A/T's, 265/75/16s. Had to trim the front flaps a little. I still get a little rub while braking and turning (hard). I also have a TM 1.5" leveling kit.

Bigbotes or fenway,
Do either of you guys have leveling kits?
And do you have 2wd or 4wd?

I don't have a leveling kit which is worrying me a little bit as far as rubbing.

I had 265/75 R16 on the stock steelies for a while, everything worked fine. Looked good too. No rub at all with BFG ATs. However, I had BFG MTs and they appeared like they would of rubbed if I had mounted them in comparison to the ATs.

With that being said, I have had 3 power steering racks replaced. The dealership blamed the leveling kit. I took it out, everything was fine from then on out, even with the larger tires.

Once the tires wore off, I went back to factory size and never looked back.

Most mechanics I spoke to on the matter blamed the leveling kit, and some blamed the heavier tires.

Either way, I'm never messing around with that junk again. Personally, I wouldn't bother with larger tires.

But, if you don't plan to level, your truck will probably be fine running them.

I think you would have to go with a 265/70/17 instead of the 65 series.

So it seems to me that the leveling kit may cause more wear on the front end parts than the larger tires
