dak05, there are reports of head gaskets failing on 4.7L as early as 44,000 miles. With the amount of boost I run I'm suprised they have held up this long, lol. Changing the gaskets are not difficult, just alot of attention to detail and time consuming.

Jerry, that is great news. I followed you STS build on your Chevy when I was thinking about rear turbo mounts. I would love to see you do that to a Dakota.

Travis, between your truck and mine, my garage stays busy, lol. Don't worry, July is infact going to be a great month

I don't have any plans on the Dakota other than giving it a good tune and mybe the E-fans. Now my two brothers and i have been looking for an old chevy s10 and plan on dropping a 6.0L and doing a front mount turbo to bring to the track. I'm thinking a 10-11 sec street legal truck

Speaking of Travis, did you get your tuning complete?

Mine, nope. Hemifever was on vacation and I never got to test my 3rd gear WOT tune.

Travis, yes he has WOT again. I had to do alot of research on it but it boiled down to this. His 224 cam grind intake and exhaust durations were more than the stock pcm could handle. I called him on leave and explained he would have to get the dealerships to reprogram his PCM with the new cam data. He did it and he has WOT again.

UPDATE:
Travis and I have pulled the A/C compressor, Blower, Blower Mounts, and Passenger side valve cover and cams shaft. Tomorrow I will drain the radiator and start pulling all the accessories off the front of the block.

Saturday we will have the passenger side head pulled.

I think the Cometic gaskets are great. I have used them for the past 4 years on the race car. Mainly, the head studs are a big part of the configuration. ARP's are good. The ARP L19's are phenominal, but come with a pretty hefty price tag. Since you are taking the heads off, you may want to consider a few things (in addition) that are not very expensive.

SS inconel valves (I'm a dealer through SI, so contact me for more info and pricing).
-I can also get them in black nitride coating, for exhaust...if you prefer.

Gasket match the ports on the exhaust manifolds

Just a question, have you thought about running an intercooler? If you are worried about fitment, just remember: With a dremel and duct-tape, you can make anything fit. Lol

wow not even gonna lie that intercooler looks sick man! I always wondered...could you run an intercooler instead of a filter setup to run into the intake? on our trucks?
