Default Adding a Temperature Gauge

Has anyone replace the Hex-Bolt in the top of the thermostat housing with a temperature sending unit for an aftermarket temp gauge?

I am not sure anyone has used that location for an aftermarket gauge, but it could be done. Some have used that location for the temp sensor for an e-fan. Basically what you are looking to do.
