Default Kinda of a rant about tire prices LOL

I hate factory goodyears that come on our cars/trucks well wife has like 44000 on her 07 jeep grand cherokee limited.. I know 44000 is not to bad for tires but you would think for 40'gs they could put some decent tires on these suv's LOL..

I went and picked here up some Bridgestone dueler revo AT tires they had one of the highest rating on tirerack.. These are 17" wheels and the dam things where almost the same price as my Cooper zeon 285/50/20 tires.. Normally the bigger the wheel the more the tire but not in this case pretty much a grand out the door same as my Coopers, Oh well what you going to do they sure do look good on her jeep I like the white lettering.. Cya Slick

PS...Sorry about the thumb still geting use to this droid phone

Hmmm, tire prices. Thinking about them gives me a headache. Im getting some new tires in the fall, and I was thinking about saving some money by getting a tire other than the one my family has always bought for their trucks, BFG ATs. I asked for recommendations at the tire shop, and any 60k+ tire is the same price. I wouldve figured by going with a radial tire I would save money, but a Michelan road tire is the same as a BFG AT. I guess I will just stick with what I know works since Ill be spending $850+ regardless.

check out other widths and heights. I know on my dak it was cheaper by almost $50 to go from 255 to a 275 tire. Mines a diff. Gen but make sure to check a couple close sizes.

I hear you on tire prices. I have set of stock wheels with snow tires. A set of stock wheels with MT Drag Slicks and I have the 265-50-20s on the truck now so I can relate to the $ of tires.

Tell me about it! I got my 18 inch wheels installed and i bought the Duelers AT Revo II and they were $875.00 on sale. After ranting about the price with the sales person, i got them for $54.00 off on each tire and ended up paying $656.00. In total i got: installation, lifetime balance and rotation, aligment, oil change, 50,000 mile warranty and road hazard protection for $855.00 total out the door. :-)

When I had about 10k miles left to go on my tires, i started searching craigslist for brand new tires, like ones sold off the spare tire rim. I was able to collect 4 matching new tires, over the course of about 6 months. They all still had blue on the raised white lettering (except one which got really dirty under the trucks bed)...never used.

I got 4 goodyear Wrangler SRAs. Ironically they were nothing like the ones that came on my 06 dakota, they were much better, with white lettering, and different tread. I got the first one for $25, the second one for $40 and the last two for 50 each. They go for about $110 each new, so I saved some dough.

I later found out that Dodge gets an OEM type of Goodyear Wrangler SRA for there ST dakotas, and that they are of lesser quality then the RETAIL Wranger SRAs. I can confirm this as my new ones have better tread and white lettering. They seem much better.

Bridgestones are just high, no matter where you go but they always have good reviews.

I put Nitto Terra Grapps on my GC after lifting it 2". 265/65/17s for $127 a tire (I know people). So far after a little over a year and about 13k miles they barely show any signs of wear, are like velcro on wet pavement and are fairly quiet for a decently aggressive A/T...
