spark plugs

I wouldnt waste my money on anything platinum. People say they dont perform well in our trucks. Actually, copper core performs best. Copper is the cheapest but you will have to replace them every 20k. You have to be careful with platinum and all those upgraded plugs. There is no way you will gain HP or more power out of a spark plug because it has a different electrode. The platinums are just designed to last longer so you dont have to change them as often. If you want to fool around with changing spark plugs, I would stick with copper cores and go a range cooler with the Autolite 3923s or NGK 4644s.

I'd stick to the stock t-stat. After having tried different plugs i've found that the ones that dodge calls for seem to be a little on the hot side. I've tried 3922's and most of them seem to of had a little more fouling than the stock ones. Just put in 3923's last night and hope they will do well. Spark Knock isn't noticeable.

When I flushed my cooling system and put new antifreeze in last year, I put a 180 degree thermostatin also. The only difference I have experienced is seeing the temp guage stay a little lower unless it's really hot outside. Stop-n-go when it's 100+ raises the guage to the same level as with the 180 degree thermostat. No difference in performance, fuel mileage and no detonation.
I've had iridium plugs in for 2 years and really like the performance with them. They are the normal recomended heat range. My plan is to try E3s sometime in the future. A dyno test on Horsepower-TV showed a slight improvement in HP and TQ. Won't know for sure until I try the butt-dyno.
