Default Morning Startup Engine Noise From 3.7L V6

When I start up my Dakota 3.7L V6 in the moring I hear a rattling noise like it is the timing chain. After it runs a few seconds it goes away. What can I do to eliminate this noise?

I had heard that the V6 looses oil pressure over night.

Thanks,
Kevin

Are you sure it is from the timing chain? I get the morning chatter (rod knock) every morning I start it. It sounds very similar to the late 80s -95 GM 350ci engine rod knock.

Also, I have been running Mobil 1 full synthetic since the vehicle rolled off the showroom floor.

It sounds like top engine noise, like a deisle sound. Sounds like valves or timing chain rattle. Usually rod knock to me sounds deeper.

I was hoping there was some good info on this and what was a typical fix.

Thanks,
Kevin

Just sounds like the normal lack of oil in the upper part of the motor. Just happens in the AM at first start of the day? Cant say that my 3.7 has the issue. I just make sure that I let it start without getting on the gas to let the oil pressure build. Just a thought.

Injectors are also noisy when they are cold, and can have a diesel sound to them. My engine makes a ticking sound when I start it, but it normally goes away after its warmed up.

Hydrolic Valve Lash Adjusters.
Search the site for them. Lots of info.

Mine does the same thing for the first few seconds in the morning. To me it almost sounds like the belt or fan or something along that line. It goes away quickly so I have not worried about it.
