Anyone has gas strut on the tailgate?

It is heavy folks. If you think not just let it go and see how it slams. Anyway, months ago I bought a kit that was made for the Ram hoping I could make it fit. No go. There was no clean way of doing it. If someone could come up with one I think there is a market for it.

Maybe some short struts from a trunk lid?
That may be in the wrong direction.

well the way i see it...it would have to be like what we have now with those black straps and have a pivot point to fold and extend and collapse!so a short gas shock with a pivot ball point and then a rod connected to the taigate!

True, but look at the gate closed. There is not enough room there for a gas shock. I'd love to have a look at the Ram's gate when closed with one of those on.

true if worse comes to worse just cut a vertical slant in the interior of the tailgate for the gas shock to go into...idk if the straps fit then there has to be a way!

I did find this,Was going to buy and try on my Ram. Dont know about the Dakota's though
Is this the same one you tried Dakotaagain? ?

I have this but it won't fit. The problem is when you close the gate there just isn't enough room for a gas strut unless you choose other anchor points.
