Thanks for posting the pic Dakota Raven I just noticed it. I wish I had that on mine. Eric I am going to do some googling on that alarm system and check it out, sounds like alot of people on this forum have it and like it. Thanks for the info.

If I get the Viper/Python Ill just get a new key cut that doesnt have the fob on it. I would get just a remote start installed on my truck, but it barley works from my room on the second level to the driveway so it would pretty much defeat the purpose of remote start as I would want to use it at school ..... I need a half mile or more. lol.

The dealer can cut you a regular key without the gigantic fob on it. I hated that thing, made carrying my keys an annoyance because it added so much length to the key. Once I got my Viper installed I went straight to the dealer for the smaller key.

I love the Viper 2-way system, wouldn't hesitate to put one on any car I owned now. If you've ever had that feeling of "crap did I lock the doors?" one look at the remote will tell you, even if you're out of range it remembers the last state. If you're in range the remote will go nuts if the alarm is set off, and you have visual and audio confirmation of remote start, if you were out of range when you tried to start it you'll know it didn't work.

Brosh remote start is the best thing in the world if you live in an area that gets a decent amount of snow. Nothing beats walking out to a warm truck and easily brushing the half melted ice off the window.

Do you disable, bypass or tie into the factory system? Isn't there some kind of communications bus on these trucks, kinda like a network where everything talks to everything?? I "assume" professional installation would be a must in order to install an alarm system (I like Viper) with remote start capabilities....

But I gotta be able to tell my grandkids someday that when I was younger I used to have to walk to my truck through 4 feet of snow, uphill, barefoot, 2 miles, just to start it...

I would spend the money to get these installed, expecially if you have a factory alarm. You are splicing into different wiring harnesses, and with one wrong wire connection you can end up with a no-start condition, setting off an air bag, or frying your computer.
If your confident and good with electronics, you probably could do it. You do have to remember that these are "universal" systems so the install instructions arent going to be exact for your truck.
My problem is Im color blind and I need my truck every day so if I mess it up, then Im screwed. And there is nothing worse than guessing which color wire goes where. When doing my power wire, I had to ask my brother to look at the 2 wires to make sure I was splicing in to the green wire. This is just my .02. Google is your friend with these situations. See how many people will never install a remote start themselves after their first experience, and read the horror stories. Then think if it is really worth saving the $200.

with all the other stuff i want to do (superchips, leveling kit, headers, true duals, etc) i cant see spending that kind of money right now when i have a perfectly functioning alarm/theft prevention system, i just want a remote start...lol...and Brosh, don't forget you had to walk BACKWARDS in that snow and it was uphill BOTH ways....haha

As far as getting these installed, I've never installed a directed alarm but I did install a CrimeGuard in my old Integra. When I got the Viper for my Dak I immediately went to a local shop and had it installed, no way was I going through that again. Installing these seems like one of those things that will be absolute hell unless you're very familiar with it from doing a lot of them.
