Default Dakota quirks.......

Hey everyone. I am new to the forums. I have had my 06 4.7L 4x4 for a while now. I have an issue with the center console/armrest. (I can't be the only one!) The latch at the front of the armrest kept breaking, I kept fixing, it kept breaking! We danced for a while......it won!
Is there a permanent fix or update of some sort for this thing? It is the large, one lid armrest. Any help would be appreciated!

My next issue is with the radio. This is not really an issue other than I would like to find an in dash GPS/Radio/CD Player combo. I do not want one of those units that slide out and rotate up, would really like a clean looking set-up. Something similar to what you would find from the factory.

Any ideas?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Lovin the forum so far! Great info. just ordered a set of BFG All-Terrains in a 265/70/16 based on what I read on the forum. Can't wait to see what they look like on the truck. I have been wanting to go a bit bigger for a while and courtesy of a blowout on the right rear yesterday, I can now make it happen!

Welcome to the forum!! Have no idea about the console. For the gps radio you'll need to get Mygig unit. Check on the classified section here or on ebay or craigs list. They come around often. Just got to make sure that it works on you truck, different years different applications..

Good luck and welcome!!!!

MyGig is an option, you'll have to trim the bezel but behind that it slides right in. You'd need one designed for use with the low speed CAN-BUS and an adapter will make your install much less of a headache, I used this one: http://coastaletech.com/MYGIG_ADAPTER.htm

Hardest part of the install with that was cutting the bezel, adapter was plug and play after setting a few switches and the radio mounts up to the existing screw points. 20 gigs of MP3 storage in dash with a touchscreen and DVD capability, I'm adding a backup camera to it when I figure out where I hid the stupid box with the camera in it.

Sweet! Looks real good. Mine should be delivered any time now. I work at a shop so they are going to be mounted quick, I am going to do an alignment, and hopefuilly get some pics up.

Looks real good though. Huge improvement over the stock 245's.

Yeah, I took it apart and I can reach in there and flip the mechanism up with my finger. It is a pain in the a$$. I would love to fix it somehow but I am guessing the part is going to be expensive.
