Question advantages of projector headlights

I was thinking of putting some smoked headlights on my red 06 Dakota. I have noticed that i can get a set of smoked projector headlights for only 50 more then factory smoked headlights. I was just wounding if there are any advantages of projector headlights or should i just go with the factory ones?

Are you talking about the factory nightrunners?

All Im finding for aftermarket projector lights are the ones on ebay with black or chrome housings, both with clear lenses. If youre looking for performance from your headlights, I would stay away from smoked lenses. If you dont mind the look of your stock headlights, go HID.

I like the look of the smoke lenses. I was thinking if i got smoked lenses and got the Sylvania silverstar ultra bulbs it would be the same as it is now. With the projector headlights the lenses are clear but the housing is black and i would be fine with that. I just done know what the advantages are with the projector headlights

Read reviews on the silverstars ..... you may change your mind.

They are pretty overrated and actually dimmer than a sylvania extra bulb because they have a filter over the light bulb that turns the bulb white.

By the time you spend the $40 a set for silverstar ultras, you are better off going with HID kits found in the marketplace here. They were just on sale for $45 a set shipped.

X2 what rengnath said about the silverstars, I spent $100 on ultra bulbs for my headlights/foglights....wish I would have saved my money. I dont see the big deal in them. Eric, you got a link for a good low/high HID kit? I see them all over ebay, but I want to get a known good one.

I have silverstars in my van and love them. truck have projectors with PIAA's in them and love them. Had silverstars but the piaa's are so much better. The projectors are a PITA to aim correctly but once done correctly, they are great. light is concentrated right where you want it. I also have lights behind the grill and when other cars are pulling over cause they cannot see in a driving rain, I have all my lights on and it is like driving in daylight.

Jkeaton, if you look in the Dodge Marketplace, theres a DF sponsor that runs deals on HID kits. HIDextra.com ..... alot of members have luck with them and they have good support for the product they sell.
