Default would doing donuts mess my p/s pump??

I was doing donuts tonight then i suddenly had no steering. My pump was whinning like crazy. I am praying that it could be my pump and not my rack. Is it possible it could be my pump?

so....where you doing donuts on dry pavement, gravel or sand? Normally, at least in the old days of my camaro, you would do donuts by cranking the wheel to one side and flooring it....that never messed up any steering I had, but that was with recirculating ball steering (ala 73 Camaro and 74 El Camino).....never tried it with rack and pinion, but you should be able to do it the same way... crank the wheel and floor it, provided you have enough torque to break the rear end free...but my guess is you do with the SC...probably had more to do with centrifugal force throwing the fluid out of the pump/reservoir? Did the steering come back after you stopped doing donuts?

Check the fluid level. You could have tore a seal in the rack doing that. But my guess would be that you got a lot of air bubbles in the system and that it what is making the pump cry.

Update? Wishing you luck. I am getting new tires this week and was going to tear the crap out of my old tires but now I am second guessing it.
