New tires for my Dakota
#21
From tire rack for General Grabber AT2s:
$448 set of 4 245/70/16s
$500 set of 4 265/70/16s
The prices are a little off what you would pay for a set of tires at a shop. My cousin works at a tire shop, and the cost of a 265/70/16 is $190 delievered to the garage, they charged me a $5 mark up so there was a "profit" and my cousin mounted and balanced them for free. Any shop that I went to was looking near that $1000 mark for the same tire installed.

After plugging the sizes into a calculator, that would be one inch larger than my tire in diameter. Im within a half inch when the wheel is turned or rubbing the splash guards, but not sure about the frame. I have heard of people fitting 265-75-16s (A little bigger than 285/65/17) with minor rubbing so you should be ok.

That's what I am running w/o a leveling kit, you should be good.

BFG and Goodyear are average performing tires at a premium price due to the fact that their advertising budgets exceed that of all other tire companies combined.
LOTS of better tires at WAY better prices out there.
As far as re-treads go, I've seen a lot of tread separations over the years from re-treads. My step-father was a cop and never made much $ and would always put re-treads on our family cars. Have been in the car with him twice when one lost it's tread and once when one blew out (on a family vacation, on the NYS Thruway doing 70 mph). Now this is when I was a kid in the late 70s/early 80s, and I know they say the technology is a lot better now, but I personally wouldn't buy re-treads unless I absolutely couldn't afford new tires...

it wasnt to bad....for me at least $382 to the door.
just got em yesterday as a matter of fact and got my rims put on!
i went with them partly cause of price and hearing how other people like them and you gotta remember were not driving big rigs here lol and the warrenty is like 25k which isnt to bad for a aggressive tread tire.
