Default Remote oil filter

Anyone installed one of those oil filter relocation kits on a 4.7L? Wondering where the best place is to mount a remote filter. Thanks.

I don't know why you'd want to. They are so easy to get to the way they are.

I guess that's one advantage the 3.7 has? The little trough under the filter.

though I don't usually have a problem with other vehicles that don't have that trough...

yeah, I know, it's really no big deal to change it where it is, except for the mess, but I am always looking for ways to simplify maintenance.

Did you try the ziplock bag trick yet, Kent? Works awesome!

I think Hammer has a remote filter change on his Ram, not sure though. I remember one of the Ram guys had it set up on the back side of the frame rail in front of the radiator. Im not sure if we have enough room for an oil filter there though.

I like the thought of a remote filter because I really hate cleaning up the rack and pinion boot and the cross frame every oil change. It is like they hired a GM engineer to place the filter on the 5.7 centered over these components just to annoy the DIY. I hate oil messes and it makes it difficult to monitor any potential problems. I well give the storage bag a try.

I've given up on the engine oil cooler idea (for now).
When I changed my oil, I cut the bottom out of a half gallon milk jug to catch the filter. Didn't spill a drop. I placed shop towels on the crossmember though, just in case.
I used a transmission funnel held to the crossmember with a small bungie for the pan drain. Again, I din't spill a drop.
First time I ever changed the oil in anything without getting oil all over me and the floor.
