lowering shackles installed today
Ueland, we are happy to welcome any pleasant folks around here. This is the only forum I belong to just because while reading threads on many others, all they do is pick you apart for something you have or did, or tell you to use the search function. Here in the G3 section, I notice a minimal amount of that and everyone does try to help.
To reaim your headlight, the easiest thing to do would probably pull up in front of a garage door. If you have a finished drywall wall in your garage, that would probably work better. You would want to make sure your truck is perfectly straight toward the wall and about 10-15 feet away. You will just adjust the alignment screw on each headlight until each beam is even with the other.
How do you know if they are aimed too high? Im really not sure. If it were I who was doing the install, I would park the truck in front of a garage door or wall where I could align the headlights. I would mark the wall or garage door so I knew where my headlights beams are currently aimed, and then install the lowering shackles. After I was done, I would fire up the headlights to see how much they changed, and correct them as necessary.
In the service manual that you can download for free, there are specific instructions for aligning headlights. I believe they even give you exact measurements.
