of the plates from blackcat customs, red filters out a lot of the light, but I suspect the blue will let a lot more of that green EL through.

Once I get my current project done, I'm going headlong into some custom electronics for my truck and modifying the cluster to accept LEDs or getting a different color EL is one of the first on my list.

Keep in mind, the blackcat customs is just an overlay, a plastic sheet. The green light has to shine through it. Green shining through red doesn't work so well do it will be very dim, but as I said, the blue should work better. You also have to modify the needles

It’s not LED but florescent luminescent display. I would hate to see that cost for a repair/replacement. I like the color but hate the radio display that even in the slightest sun light it washes out much of the characters. Wearing amber shooting lenses sunglasses helps though. Some vehicles displays have color control where you may choose the back lighting and the information characters lighting colors.

I will keep that in mind. I was thinking about the blue anyway. Just bout anything will be better than the green.

My Dakota is an 07 and i hate that darn green looking light as well. Anyone have any photos of the guage cluster OUT of the dash? Wonder if one could possibly disable the current dash lighting system (just the green glow not the warning lights) and install some bases and bulbs to light the gauges. They would have to either be wired into the existing switch or placed on an independant switch. But anything beats the way they are now

You can disable the light by unplugging it. I guess you could custom make some type of bulb holders but that would be a lot of work. Plus the gauge faces are not designed for back lighting so you sould have to figure that part out. Post up some pics if you decide to tackle a project like that.
