Ideally, Leaning out the AF mix (SLIGHTLY) would net a gain. Most manufacturers run rich from the factory, because its safer.
the only reason we would want to add more fuel would be if you are pulling in more air. Even then, our computers should be able to compensate for that extra air, as long as its not a large volume more.
I did this little trick a while back, and I dont feel that it hurt performance, but I dont feel like it gained anything noticeable.

Well, since adding the 68.5mm TB, I revisited this..exactly for the reason ericemery mentioned above..
I do feel a difference with the resistor installed!
So far (300 miles), it still feels the same as when I installed it (ECU does not seem to compensate)..
All of this is on "feel"...you may differ...
