Oil Leak!
Well I noticed a small puddle of oil under my truck today. It's either the crank case or the oil pan. Hopefully the pan...it appears to have been leaking for a while because it was pretty messy when I peered underneath. Sucky...but it's the first problem I've encountered luckily.
Mine started leaking oil from the crank shaft seal around 90k miles .... not too bad to fix. Better than the pan, IMO. Underneath it looked like it was seaping from the pan, but when you took a flash light you could see oil seaping down the front of the engine and it was all over the inside of the crankshaft pulley. It got messy when the fan got a hold of the oil and blew it all over the frame and stuff.
I took it to the dealer, where it cost $300. (I dropped it off at 9am, picked it up after work around 6pm) IMO, that really wasnt too expensive being it was the dealer. It probably wouldve been closer to $150 at a shop, but I dont have one that I trust with engine work.
After reading more about it, I shouldve just done in myself. All it involves is taking off the pulley, removing the old seal and pounding the new one in gently. (Obviously a little more involved than that)
I thought when I saw where it was leaking from that it would involve some disassembly of some engine components and I wasnt sure if I could do the work in the space provided up there in front of the radiator.
At least with this type of leak its repairable easily. A pan may be bad if you cant get the pan down ..... I was relieved when standing at the service desk and was quoted $280. I thought it was more serious.

Oh ok, not too horribly bad then. But i need to replace my sway bar links too...they're ****ed. Too much hard offroading, maybe i'll submit a midair pic for the calendar...haha.
Haha, that would get my vote!
Sway bar links are easy at least. I was really temped just to remove the bar completly since it still makes clunking noise after I replaced my links. Ive learned to live with it. By removing it, if the truck ever rolls over my luck insurance would inspect it and find the bar removed and then not cover me. Not worth any risk as those things are put on there for a reason.

I know what you mean! Im really curious to see how the truck handles without it, but havent had that much ambition. You can get new bushings of the Mopar Estore, but by the time you get those you are better off getting a new pair of MOOG links from RockAuto.com
well ive started to have this aswell... all i did was change my oil and it stopped leaking... idk why but just did it was a suggestion from a chevy friend of mine and it worked... lol maybe give it a try?
If it is the crankshaft seal, an oil change could be enough to "seal it." The crankshaft seal is special because youre trying to make an oil tight seal around a metal shaft that spins. Sometimes, even after replacing these seals people still have trouble with them leaking because they dont properly seal. When your oil gets thin (or you put synthetic in like I did at 85k) it can get past the seal and leak. If it is your seal baracis, and its actually dripping on the ground I wouldnt waste time. Just fix it, as nothing will save you if its coming out that good. Mine was seeping to the point where I would clean it, drive for 100 miles and no oil would leak. After 1000 miles, the bottom of the engine and the frame were covered in a thin coat. I tried going to a high mileage oil and it didnt do anything.
