Syn motor oil
I use 10W-30 Mobil One. I won't use that salad oil 5W-20 weight. I run the oil upwards of 5 to 6k and change the filter (mid of oil change) and add a quart. At 12k I do an oil and filter change. So far I'm very happy with the Mobil One 10W-30 and use preium filters such as Purolator Gold series. Mobil On recomends it will run 15k but I go to 12k either way good stuff.
No one would ever know what weight you’re running unless you have a major claim on warranty and they may and I say may do an analysis. I know my engine is quieter with 10W -30 then with 5W-20. I just feel better without the salad oil stuff.
Remember guys, oil weights are calculated by the manufacturer for the tolerances of the engine. Granted, Chrysler has trouble making up their mind sometimes, but one should be aware. My 3.7L takes a 5W-30. For awhile, I ran 10W-30. This is not a problem in the summer, because the viscosity (when warm) is the same. The first number is the "winter" grade, or viscosity while subject to extreme cold conditions. You run into serious issues when changing oil with VERY different viscosities. Take for example, Audi: most of their turbo charged applications require a 0W-40. If one were to put in a 5W20, they would start seeing premature bearing failures, scuffed cylinder walls, etc.
Believe it or not, conventional oil can solidify in extremely cold temperatures.. Mobil 1 full synthetic will NOT solidify in cold temps. If you ever want to test this theory: grab a quart of Mobil conventional, a quart of Mobil 1, and a bananna. Place all three items in a cooler filled with dry ice. After a good amount of time, try to pour out the conventional....you won't be able to. The Mobil 1 will pour out just fine. The bananna will become like glass.

i use the cheapest junk that jiffy lube has to offer, 98000 miles on it and no issues, change it out every 4500 to 5000 miles, or when i get around to it, oils these days are really good, no need for that super crap, just a waste of money
wow, what a plethora of opinions! hmmm...what to do, what to do....stick with the cheap jiffy lube junk every 3-5k miles/3 months or go with the super expensive purple elixir every 10k miles/12 months....
I'm not here to rain on anyone's parade, but give my humble experience: After assembling engines and diagnosing bearing wear/failure, I have seen amazing wear charateristics from engines that run a full synthetic compared to a conventional oil. In Colorado, we see huge temperature changes during the year, and for a few bucks more, I run a full synthetic in all of my vehicles to get the best life out of the engine and drivetrain. If you do the math, the price at what one would typically pay for to have their oil changed at a lube shop, using conventional oil, should be around $35-$40 or so (for our trucks). Walmart carries 5 quart containers of Mobil 1 for $23, plus a $5 oil filter, $2 to fill up the window washer fluid. This is just my thinking though. Granted, if one were to change their own oil with conventional, it would be cheaper by about $10 or so. Therefore, if one were to change their oil every 3 months (typical conventional recommendation), they would save $40 over the period over a year.
i'm not good at math.....but i want to run synthetic simply because I'm getting tired of crawling under my truck every three months and getting splashed with used motor oil....plus I believe there are benefits to running synthetic over conventional as mentioned throughout this thread....I just think it's interesting to read what everyone thinks about the issue....lol
just did an oil change last night and put mobile 1 full synthetic in. I'm gonna let it go 6k and see what it looks like. Having that valve on the oil drain really makes oil changes easy (plus the bag on the filter trick).
