I am only going on the 9th of 12 free oil changes from the dealer, so whatever they put in it, is what I am running...

Oh no offence meant, just that there's so many opinions it's hard to decide, but I do know it will be SYN.

I have used Valvoline synthetic in my 2005 Dakota since it hit 5,000 miles (now 63,000); Same with my 1993 4 X 4 Suburban (now 162,000); Used it in my 1985 Jeep since it came out (now 121,000); In my wife's 2,000 Mustang (now 59,000). I also use synthetic for all fluids in everything. No oil consumption, or wear problems to date. I'm sold. Just MHO.

Default brand you never heard of

Bought my '04 4.7 with 21K on it, had always had had conventional Valvoline used up to that point. I started using Valvoline Synpower; no problems, however, no difference either as far as gas mileage or engine noise.
Been using Schaeffer's 9000 full synthetic last couple of changes. I like the idea that it has microscopic molybdenum disulfide, a great lubricant. Again, tho, can't say I notice any changes. BTW, no oil consumption at all with any of them.
Just bought a '13 Grand Caravan with the 3.6, and it calls for 5W-20, so I'm using Mobil 1 since I can't get Schaeffer's in that weight. Just feel safer with synthetic, especially when I have to use 5W-20, which is about the same as 3-in1 sewing machine oil.
