whats really messed up is no state is the same and laws even varies county to county within the same state. For example, there are some counties in NC that do not have emission testing at all, so you could remove cats and run leaded gas and still be legal but the next county over it would be illegal...

My truck is registered in a county that I have my P.O. box in. No emission testing in that county but they have it in the county I live in. I still think the only thing they state will require you to do is have it tested before the certify it. Just call up the local DMV and talk with them.

For the county of Milwaukee in WI I had to go for emissions testing and I had no problems with the mods on my truck. I kept my Superchips installed with the crankcase venting in to the atmosphere. (Only things that would mess with emissions) All they do is plug in to the OBDII port, they no longer do a sniff test. Only cars 96+ are required for emissions. Basically, if theres no CEL, youll pass.

Must be nice! they still do both here, and do an underhood inspection. Depending on what station I go to, they could fail me for the CAI, so I put my stock air intake back on (and remove the taillight covers) before inspection time.

vmxf22. Here is what the California DMV has to say about vehicles from out of state. From the looks of it, it doesn't sound good.
