Question Question! help!

ok so my brother in law came over from georgia, i live in california he has a 09 dakota big horn edition. It has around 12 thousand miles the truck is paid off. Hes selling the truck because he has some money problems. I am really interested in the truck, the only problem is that i dont know, if im able to register the truck in california.

I read on the label around the engine its says, Not for sale in states with california emission standards. Does that mean i wont be able to register the truck in cali? so there's no point on buying it from him?

That would be correct. If you trust your family members though, have it registered out of state in their name and just have them send you the license plates. You may have to take it for emissions in their state though depending on what their laws are.

Yea you would need to take the truck to an emissions testing station to get is certified acceptable to California emission standards.

wouldn't there be some grandfather clause for used cars? If you look at cars/trucks in classifieds, there is no disclaimer saying " not legal for sale in California". (i know there are parts that say that, but not a whole vehicle??)
