Larger tire size causes front-end shaking

I have a confession to make that almost makes me feel stupid. I have had horrible imbalance issues with my Coooper Zeon LTZ tires LT265/75/17. Dyna-beads helped considerably, but never solved the issue completely....and it has been getting worse. I usually run 40psi in the tires. I've never actually looked at the rating on these 10-ply tires before, and the max inflation is 80psi. With the cooler weather, mine had fallen to about 35psi. I pumped them up to 70psi, and my issues seem to be solved. The ride is hard as a rock, but at least they don't bounce going down the highway. So my advice is to stay away from high pressure 10-ply tires. If you have them and have a balance problem, low pressure may be the issue.
Turns out that it is common for the 17" rims that were put on some Dakotas to have chronic wheel balancing problems. It seems that the chrome rims are actually a chrome plate pressed onto an aluminum rim.The chrome plate is not hub centric so traditional cone type wheel balancers are not reliable.
After years of pain, (And dumb dodge mechanics changing most of my front and rear end numerous times, it turns out that all I have to do is ask for them to use the 'fingers' when they balance my tires. They go in the rim bolt holes, and Voila, my problem solved...
