Now all I have to do is plug this harness in, tap in to the reverse light and run that wire seperate and Im done. I figured the $25 was easier than messing around with tapping in to existing wires. This will look cleaner as well, IMO. I love plug-and-play! Ill also be able to splice in to these wires on the harness for the LED running light strips so I can pull everything off the truck if necessary and return it to stock.

Pep boys sells nice snap connectors to splice into wires.. no stripping, taping or soldering...you just put the wire end into one slot..then put the connector over the wire you want to tap into and snap it in with a pair of pliars. Fast, easy, and clean looking.

looks like this

They sell others that are nice too... its got a base that snaps into the wire... it has a female plug end on it, then you crimp the male end onto your wire and just plug it in... they are nice for accessories like bar lights etc..because if the light breaks you don't have to do any resplicing, you just crimp another male end onto the new light and plug it back in.

Yeah, I used those when I hard wired my Valentine One in to my last truck. I was going to use them again, but I was reading that they have corrosion problems.

Another reason it may not be a good idea for me to start tapping off different wires; Im 100% color blind. It gets tricky figuring out what color is which working under the dark truck with wires covered in dirt. Lol. I hate making excuses though. I think Ill do a nice step-by-step with this custom wiring job.

Now with a 4-pin harness, I will have to ground the light bar, correct? Because I thought the 4-pin was L and R turn signal, brake/running light, and ground ..... but Im guessing there is no ground in the harness; hence why you have to have a properly grounded ball on your hitch to have your trailer lights work.

A 4-pin is l/r turn brake and ground.

oops i stand corrected... the brake function through the same wires as the turn signals...and there is a ground. So you have left turn/ brake....right turn/brake..running lights..and ground

Darn, that sucks. I wish the turn signals were seperate; then I could run make my running lights function as directionals just by tapping in to the trailer harness. Looks like Ill be running a set of wires up front to the headlights.

Its a Recon Extreme and a set of the Big Rig "ICE" running lights.

For your enjoyment:

The whole reason why I got it was I did a google search for the "best" light bars and there was a forum bragging about these. I later found that a lot of people dont have good luck with them, but hopefully it works in my favor. Plus, I found a 25% off coupon!

I thought it was pretty cool ..... my brother thinks it will be obnoxious. Lol

The running lights are also something pretty sweet. I dont know if they will look funny though because its only a small Dakota.
They are 48" and include amber running lights, amber directionals (6x brighter than running lights) and then you also hook them up to your dome light and they turn white when the dome light is activated.
