If I were to buy and build another Dakota, it would be an 08+ with the 4.7L without a doubt. 305hp is a lot better starting point than 235hp.

Sorry your dak passed away. Glad you didn't try to steer out of the way and possibly harm the passengers. Find a great deal somewhere, and maybe you will get a free upgrade!

Look at it on the bright side, you are ok. When it comes down to it, the truck and components are always replacable. I hear what you're saying and I understand what you are going through very well. Just think about it as a chance to either grab that new Ram, or like DodgeTrucker said, go with a 08 or newer Dak with the newer 4.7L. You will be happy.

I agree... I was just putting the rebuild idea out there, but time and money always rule. With or without one or the other, your decisions are kinda made for ya

Sorry to hear KS .... such a sharp truck expecially with that sport appearance package. Maybe its a good thing they totalled it though; a vehical is never the same after its been in an accident, expecially when every piece of the body on the front end needs to be replaced. Glad to hear youre ok though, trucks are replacable.

For major mods, the only tuner working on the 08+ 4.7L is the Diablo tuner. If you are planning on major mods, ie. Cams, boost, etc you might look into it.

Agreed on the total. As you have read my 2004 had two major accidents it was never right. When I finally got rid of it in 2008 the dealer only valued it at 4 grand. It looked great but the accidents that were on record really hurt.

That sucks dude.

I have a black 2008 dak in my sights (Dodgetrucker, i might need some tips), but i also got a 2007 Hemi 2500 mega cab and a couple of nice 1500 quad cab,one with 4.7 and one with Hemi in my sights also. I HATE TRUCK SHOPING.

Blown: what is the possibility of a turbo charger, or is super better? How much is the diablo, and cams? What all would i have to do to make that all work? (i guess i should do a search) I kinda wanted to put a turbo on that 3.7, just for the fun of it. >

I am really missing my dakota right now!

I think we all wonder about the little engine that could. Problem with building a beast is whenitstime to part company you really take a $ bath. Mods can eat up money

Id be getting a hemi! They can eat money, but from what I see on the ram forums is there's a lot more bang for your buck when putting mods on a hemi. Now if you're just looking for something unique, a turboed 3.7 would be pretty sweet. Anyone can buy a part for a hemi and install it .... a 3.7 would obviously be all custom.
