Default gas mileage question

for two years i have averaged 16.8 mpg. i recently hit that button and it stated 14.3. i thought maybe it was use of the ac, low tires or my wife gunning it around.

i checked and set the air at 35psi, filled it up and ran it with no ac or reckless accelaration. It still 14.8. i have change all the fluids, and pcv and still 14.8. it has not been cold. i even changed the brakes thinking maybe acaliper was hanging. the air filter is clean. the only thing i can think of is those stupid e3 plugs and the bridgestone revo, but the same size. has anybody else noticed this with these plugs. i dont know why i changed from the cheap autolites other than those guys on "trucks" or "gearz" or the add to the right--->

i am not overly concerned about a few cents as this not an efficient commutter anyway. more concerned this is a precursor of things to come. i dont want to sound like apocolypse guy

please respond with any answers, suggestions or similiar issue

When was the last time you had the alignment done? My mileage was getting worse until I had it done, now it's back to normal.

i doubt its the spark plugs or the tires that would bring the millage down that much. But now that you mension it, I remember about 2 years ago i noticed my millage going down and i didnt know why. I thought i was just imagining things

hmmmm...well whens the last time you cleaned your throttle body and ran something like SeaFoam threw it to clean all that gunk build up out? might be why!

It looks like you are believing the overhead display which in my 2005 has NEVER been right compared to the old fashion method of dividing miles by gallons put in.

I always fill the same way, when the pump shuts off, leave it alone. Don't try to squeeze in another drop unless you like gas running down the side of your truck.

I usually get about 1.5 mpg less than what the overhead display says.

My 2008 Chevy Impala is about the same amount off from what I actually put in.

Seafoam is a good product in the right application. Seafoam is bad for an old motor that has been poorly maintained as the gunk it breaks down starts traveling to other parts and clogs them. I have found it to be a good maintainance product for keeping a properly maintained engine clean.

whats your opinion on using it on a 2005 dak with 84k miles on it and i dont know know what the maintenance history on it was? the truck is in immaculate condition other than the bit of a rough idle that i have (which is why iam interested in the sea foam treatment in the first place)

Should be fine. The "bit of a rough idle" is very common. Seafoam probably won't change that.
