Default Calculators?

Anyone know where I can find a calculator to figure out what switching to 26" (from stock 31") Drag Radials would be comparable to? What I mean is, What would this be gear wise? (If I were to change rear end gears instead of tire size?) eventually I want to also do 4.10 (if I can find them. 4x4) I have heard that this will get me off the line, and down the track faster. Any info would be appreciated. (still cant wrap my head around smaller being faster, since all the dragsters have huge tires!)

use the chart luke

http://www.4wheelonline.com/superlift_tiresize.htm

Assuming 65mph and a tans ratio of 1:1, and that you have around 3.92 gears, at 31" tire you would be running 2755 rpm

a 26" tire with 3.92 gears would push you to 3294 rpm

assuming 31' tire, and hitting around 3200rpm. the change that you specify should be equivalent to having 4.56 gears on 31" tires.

The smaller is faster because the engine is able to turn the tires less for each time it turns.
think of it like a car jack, preferably one of those cheapy screw types that come factory with cars.
A it takes a lot of lot of strength to lift the car an inch, but not much movement.
B it takes a lot of movement to make the jack expand an inch, but not much strength.

Now you can make all that lift on the car with one small movement, that takes a lot of strength, OR you can lift it with lots of moment that take little strength. IE all that movement to spin that jack as it raises the car little by little.

Same thing if the engine can spin more times to make it the same distance, it will be easier on the engine, and allow you to do so faster. This can be achieved by either smaller tires, or lower gears in this case smaller tires!

Looks like going to 26" tire would be equivalant to switching to 4:10 gears? Now, imagine that AND 4:10 gears? hmmm.... (may be getting close to breaking something here...

I must be getting old, Im looking forward to getting tires for xmas....

Ah Ah Ah, look at my previous post, I outline it for you guys, going to a 26" tire from a 31" is equivalent to putting 4.56 gears in with 31" tires.

I posted a link to a page with the chart, use the chart.
