With my new tires my truck gets up and goes in the 3 inches we had here today. With the old Firestone Destination A/Ts, I had problems getting started even with just feathering the throttle. In 2wd, it still gets light in the rear but its not impossible to drive it.

like i said, you gotta know how to drive in the stuff to take advantage of 4x4.... i could drive circles around most 4x4's around here with front wheel drive only.

Oh comeon! With 4x4, just flip the switch and drive! jkjk

The first time I used 4x4 in snow, I almost spun the thing around in the middle of an intersection. I was used to driving a RWD truck, so going to 4x4 and having all 4 wheels pull was a difference. Anything is better than driving in snow with FWD though; I hate the torque steer your get. RWD atleast allows you to counter-steer and actually isnt too bad if you can get traction.

I never had any problems in the snow with the ranger. (I wasn't putting as much HP to ground either.) I just noticed though, the other day, that with the way I like to drive this truck I was breaking traction on wet pavement. Rear tread looks pretty good, I dont want to buy new street tires this winter, as I am getting ready to buy Mickey Thompson drag radials and rims next weekend, and those arent cheap!

Tires is 90% of driving in snow, lol. My Nitto 420S = worthless on anything but dry pavement. The Eagle II GTs I just bought are great in the snow.
