Do you know what failed in the transmission? Or does the truck just not go?

Over 103k on mine and short of having to change the filter and fluid more often its done really well. Considering the abuse I put it through anyway, lol. Sorry to hear about it though.

She's in the shop now and should be done in a few days. I'm having the tranny rebuilt because it's $2000 less. I think what set it off was I pulled a 6x12' Uhaul box trailer from Houston, TX to Riverside, CA. An hour outside of Austin in the hill country my transmission cooler line came out of the bottom of the radiator, all cause the clip broke... fluid went everywhere and the headers started to smoke and that's when I realized something was wrong. So I don't know how long I was going until I noticed the smoke. I'm sure this is what lead to the transmission problems, what do you guys think?

Well, I think thats what caused the tranny to fail. It was not the transmissions fault. It was a victim.

Agreed. Dodge used to have alot of complaints with their transmissions, but I dont see much of the complaining for the newer gen Dodges. I have 114k miles on mine and still going strong.

Some road debris could have flown up and done damage. Truck tire pieces especially.

I bought my '05 because the tranny was toast in it. The previous owner scrapped it because they didn't want to fix it. In the case of my truck, the tranny cooler in the rad broke, causing the tranny to pull engine coolant into it, and spewing the tranny fluid into the cooling system. It took a while to flush the cooling system.

Now the tranny fluid doesn't run through the rad cooler, just through an external cooler. I still had to replace the rad though, since the pressure from the tranny blew the seal between the rad tans and the core.
