Default Aluminum Intake Idea

As Promised I've been researching an affordable intake, well one more affordable that the Sullivans anyway. This one would cost $955 vs $1,699. I want to see what you guys think.

Air Ram Adapter plates $555

Victor Junior 4.6L Aluminum Intake $289

Edelbrock 3847 Throttle Body Elbow $111

Do you think it would help a n/a motor and would it clear the hood? If there was proof that it added a decent amount of power for the price i would think about it its still a good idea/find. Also how much custom fitting do you think it would take to do this?

It would increase air flow but the big reason I want it is boost. The plastic manifold is only designed to take so much, lol.

would it clear the hood and would you have to modify the intake?

I think so but there is really only one way to find out. If I have to cut another hole in the hood for extra clearance that is no big deal.

Yes, the stock plastic intake manifold will have to come out completely. Throttle body will mount right up the the elbow. Only possible concern I see is the fuel rail. Might have to modify or buy an aftermarket fuel rail.

Blown, the idea is there. Sullivan intakes are rediculously priced. One of my race buddies has a 98 Mustang GT with a Procharger D-1. He went with the Sullivan intake for the same reason you are ditching the stocker, boost. I would be interested to see if you install this, but I have a few concerns. The Airram manifold: horrible inner castings (at least from everyone I have ever seen), extremely porous (made for carb applications for air/fuel arreation). Are there any other manifolds we can look at using that will be more "boost" friendly?

I hear you brother. The Sullivan's and Edelbrock's Victor Junior are the only two I've been able to find. The Victor Junior comes in #91237 for carb'd 4.6L and #28385 designed for fuel injected applications. I'm still in the research mode and if it looks plausible I will give it a shot.

Here is some info on the Victor Jr.

Dammit, I read that post before I drank my morning coffee. The victor jr is a great manifold. For some reason I thought I saw something different. Excuse my "before coffee postingmanship".

I will post a picture of the new manifold going on the race car this winter a little later.
