Default High Flow Cat

My plan for 2011 includes replacing most or all of my exhaust system. This includes replacing the factory cats with high flow cats. Has anyone got first-hand experience with high-flow cats ? I was looking at Magnaflow but many of the posts in their site had negative reviews. Some complained about poor quality and fit.
I am planning on first replacing everything from the cats back and then replacing the manifolds with headers. An alternate plan would be to do everything at one time but that would mean spending major bucks all at one time.

I bought a magnaflow for my old 00 dakota slt. I dont remember how much I paid for it, something like 80 or 90 bucks. I didnt put it on myself I had someone do it for me. The fit was a problem I know that, but they got it on and it worked well. I could defenitly tell a difference in my exhaust. It was a little louder but most of all it sounded deeper. I had it on there with a flowmaster super 40 dual cat back straight out the back. I'm not sure what your laws are but in VT you have to wait 5 years to replace one.

Spintech cats all the way. My air to fuels are always spot on, I have super flow and I pass emissions testing. If they can handle 14psi of boost and still be efficient, they will serve you well.

Blown,
I assume that you have headers. What size cats did you put on ? Are they the stock size ? Did you also install a less-restrictive Y-pipe ?

JBA Headers and I went to a 2.5" cat and had reducers welded in.

No, the stock size is 1.75' but the 2" seem to weld up nicely.

I did on my original setup. Now I have a true dual exhaust.

Anyone ever hear of flowmonster? One of my buddies was telling me about them but for $67, that sounds a little fishy...

Not to be-labor the issue Blown but you said:
'JBA Headers and I went to a 2.5" cat and had reducers welded in.'
That sounds like you only have one cat but I think my truck has 2 cats (one on each side). I'd look under the truck but I'm at work now and can't.
Thanks, in advance, for the clarification.

Nope, I have two, one coming off each down pipe just like you.
Here is a picture of the passenger side. If you notice, the diameter of the cat is larger than the diameter of the down/flange pipe. I did this to help with flow as a boosted motor pushes a lot of air.
