Im color blind. Ill just throw that out there. Lol. So no help for that one.
You can hook it up to the cigarrette lighter circuit. Just check to see if the memory dumps every time the power goes off before you reinstall it in the dash.
It's not a matter of the OEM wiring "not providing enough power." The OEM system is controlled by a databus, not voltage. Meaning it's a digital link between the BCM an the OEM radio to tell it when to turn on and off, dimmer control, VSS information an likely a few other functions.
The harness with the module attached taps into the databus an provides the analog outputs that the aftermarket radios can use.
The "battery" and "accessory" should not be tied into the same wire. They are apparently both connected to an "always hot" wire. You need to take the "accessory" wire off that and find a switched power wire to connect it to.
A switched power wire is hot (has 12 volts DC to ground) when the ignition key is in the on or accessory position and 0 volts DC to ground when the key is off. In other words, it's only on (has power) when the truck is running or the key is in the accessory position, hense the "accessory" designation given to that wire coming from the radio. Find the trucks switched power wire that was there for the factory radio and connect that "accessory" wire to that.
The accessory needs to be connected to the cigarrete outlet hot wire, doesnt it? Im guessing the accesssory wire was attached to a wire that was always hot and not switched, thats why the radio was always on. It needs to be connected to a switched hot wire.
