Thanks backwoods18. And yeah, it helped that I had functionality in mind when doing this and worried about asthetics later. The way it turned out its not too noticible that it was cut (if you look at it from a third person perspective of someone who doesn't know exactly what a 3rd gen dakota is supposed to look like).

I'm still thinking about flares, but it doesn't look bad as it is...

Hay man, I think it looks fine now. Just make sure you Line-X (?)the exposed metal where you cut and IMHO, since the rig is bedlinered, it shouldn't matter how the fenders look.

Dear Desert Rat,

You have seriously affected my plans for my truck. Thanks for completely f'ing up my plans for my Dak. I appreciate how you lovingly screwed my out of thinking that 33" tires on a non-body lifted truck would be satisfactory for my needs. I was perfectly fine with the daystar kit...and maybe a 1" lift in the rear. But NOOOOO!!!!! Now I have to add more to it....and cut my fenders now.....because your truck looks amazing on 35" tires. Dammit, 33" was supposed to be all I would need. Great, Im f*&^ed. Thanks again for ruining my wallets ability to hold currency. Its like all my wants and needs were almost there, and then swiftly stripped from me, like a robber swipes a purse from woman...at a beauty salon....and the robber is the manager who works there....I hope you feel better at night knowing you completely destroyed everything. You must get paid to do crap like this, because you do it so well.

We need more pictures of your truck.

Rear (with cuts), full side shots, front shots, 3/4 shots, and even more.

Silly question, but what kind of lug nuts do you have?

Unfortunately I just got pretty busy with school and work so good pics are going to have to wait til next week some time.

I really appreciate the compliments...keep em coming! haha.

The lug nuts are just some black locking? (they have a unique pattern that requires a "key") nuts I found online somewhere that fit the stock bolts/spacer bolts. I got em so my $400 tires wouldn't walk away.

I thought about doing the wheels all black but when its cleaned up it looks pretty sharp with the silver wheels, silver "4x4" symbol, and silver Dodge symbol. I still might buy some nice aftermarket black wheels.

Good point about puting bedliner on the cut metal...that's exactly what I did so it wouldn't rust and to help hide where it was cut. I actually used a roll on/brush on liner from walmart...comes in a 1 ga can for like $45 and I did 1 layer across the whole truck with it and 3 layers on the hood and grill. The more layers you put on, the smoother and more even it looks. For the cracks and hard to reach places, I used the rustoleum spray on bedliner can ($7 at HD, Lowes, Walmart). My plan is to add a layer or two every year...can't really beat a$50 paint job!

As for the bumper...haha that took quite a bit of work. Over Christmas break my buddy and I made it out of a 4'x4' piece of 3/16" plate steel, some angle iron, and 1"x2" rectangular steel tubing. It took the 2 of us 3-4 days. It was cut with a circular saw and chop saw before we found out his buddy had access to a CNC machine (would've saved us a day and a half of cutting!). I designed it so it bolts on where the stock bumber mounts and accounts for the gap that would otherwise be obove the bumper after installing the body lift. I'm still not done with it...need to install the brush guard tubing, drill out holes and install fog lights, cut a hole for a roller fairlead, and install my D-Rings. I just painted it in the mean time so it wouldn't rust. So far it weighs about 150 lbs.

looks good bud!!!! i'd like to get 35's on mine but would probably make my overdrive all but useless LOL, its already at 1900rpm's ta 70mph with the 33's, and i would have to get really hammered to carve on the sheet metal, but hopefully i can come up with something soon to not have to do any cutting, we'll see.... i get some pics of that bumper up when you can, i wana see it

Time to swap gear to 4.56s!!!! Theres some pics in the 3rd gen photo section, and that bumper is a serious piece of work. Ive seen armored trucks with less bumper than that Dakota.
