Drop Shackels
okay so i'm gonna be doing my rear drop shackels myself in a weekend or two at fort hood in a shop with a lift...what exactly step by step do i need to do for those of you who have done it. Thank you
I know you are planning on using a lift but I will give you directions for a jack/stand just in case.
01. Block the front wheels loosen the lugs on the rear wheels.
02. Use the jack to lift the rear end.
03. Put jack stands under each side of the frame to the rear ensuring the rear tires do not touch the ground.
04. Remove the wheels.
05. Loosen the bolts on the front and back of the leaf springs as well as the bolt on the top of the drop shackle. It uses an allen head on one side of it.
06. Remove the U bolts and braket holding the axle to the leaf spring. Remove the small nut on bolt is the center of the leaf spring.
07. Unbolt the back of the leafspring and the drop shackle. If your lucky you won't need to remove the leaf spring completely.
08. Remove stock shackle and install the drop shackes.
09 Put everything back together but do no torque, hand tighten only. Once you've done both sides and put the wheels back on drive it around the block and with all wheels on the ground torque them down. If you torque them before driving it probably won't sit correctly and will squeak a lot.
There are nuts with flanges inside the mounts to the frame. Do not, let them fall into the frame as they can an you will have to fish them out.
Good luck.

No worries man, my pleasure. I never thought to take pics of the install, lol. Took me about 2.5 hours or so start to finish. That included fishing one of the flanged nuts out of the frame. 1st time I installed the shackels I had 4 guys helping from my SOVA crew, we set the shackel to the next to last setting for a 1.5" drop. It took us about 5 hours to do it. Later I set it to the last for a full 2" drop and it only took me 2.5 hours installing it by myself, lol.

If thats the case definitely go to the next to last hole, that will give a 1.5" drop. I had that for for about a year until I finally wen the full 2" drop.
