I already have one so don't need it but, I'm just curious (for any other potential 'buyers' out there)...

Is this a new unit or used? And if it's used, has it been wiped clean by SC? If not, they charge like $100 to reprogram a unit that has been previously used. Also, if it used, a new one goes for around $300 so this wouldn't be a bargain.

Just lookin' out for my peeps. Haha

Maybe someone who has actually done it can fill us in on the fact. Can a tuner be used on another vehicle or does it have to be 'reset' once programmed to a vehicle? Personally, I'd like to know in case I ever sell my truck.

The tuner is locked to a vehicle while it has been tuned. When you sell a tuner, if you return your vehicle back to stock, then it is unlocked. If the tuner is unlocked, then it can be used on another vehicle. If the tuner is locked, then there is a fee from superchips of $100 to unlock the tuner so it can then be used on another vehicle. So an unlocked tuner can be used without another fee.

That is why when there is a tuner for sale on a forum, the mods require a picture of the tuner, while plugged in, stating that it is not locked or linked to a vehicle. That being said, $275 is not a great price for the tuner, I got mine for $303 shipped when they first came out.

But it's a nice gesture by WTEBOY703 to pass along a possible deal to the forum members.

Playing devils advocate here, that is no guarantee that the tuner you actually buy will be the one in the pic....or that the one in the pic is not locked after the pic is taken....there are dishonest people out there, that is why it should always be buyer beware on these types of purchases from individuals....in this case though, I believe whtboy is legit.

Honestly, I would not buy a used tuner. Unless I could pay AFTER I updated the tuner and installed a tune on my vehicle.

Thanks for clarifying. I was misled to believe it had to be 'wiped clean' at a cost regardless. Good to know, even though I have no plans to sell either the tuner OR the truck any time soon.

I don't think he'd try to screw any of us, but saying wteboy is 'legit' may be going a little too far. Hahaha, just bustin man.

The way dakotaff stated it, is the way I understand the SC tuners as well...
