'05 V6 MPG question
I have a chance to buy a new Quad Cab V6 Auto but am worried about the mpg. Sticker says 16/22 for the 3.7L. I'd believe it but the previous V6 got horrid mileage. Anyone out there have the new V6? If so, how's your mileage? Thanks.
I've got the 05 QC 4x4 with the 3.7 with right around 2500 miles and the best mileage I've gotten is around 15mpg and I'm using a K&N air filter. This seems pretty sad, for the technology we have today 20mpg or more should be easily obtainable.
I have an 05 quad cab with the 3.7, had it for two weeks and put about 1500 miles on so far, most of my milage is hwy, so far I have gotten between 20-22 mpg ever tank. The overhead console trip computer said that I have averaged 20.1 mpg since I bought the truck. I have no complaints, thats for sure.
My truck gets 17.4 mpg with 80% of the driving being stop and go city. The highway mileage rating for all cars and trucks is based on the vehicle running at 55mph not 70-80mph. I am sure my truck will get 22mpg at 55mph, but since I drive at 70-80mph on the highway I would expect my mileage to be less than 22mpg.
I am already running a premium syn oil in the engine and I plan to change the transmission fluid to a syn ATF and then add a tonneau cover. With these changes I am hoping I will be able to get 22-24mpg when driving the highway at 70-80mph.

heck, if everyone just drives slow they'll get great gas mileage. i have an 05 QC with the 4.7, 2wd. i drive approx 23 miles each way everyday, and average from 24.5 to 28 mpg. thats only because i drive at exactly 54mph. IT SUCKS TO DRIVE THAT SLOW. but it only makes for an extra 7 minutes of driving. im a lead foot 23year old to, so if i can slow down to conserve that over $3 a gallon fuel, im sure others can..
