Default Front end issues

just got some questions and concerns about what is going on with my truck...its an 07 st 2wd.

i just had 2 of the tires plugged because of screws in them, before i got them fixed the truck would shake over 80km/h and i just chalked that up to the tire pressures being wonky. Now that its all fixed up though it is shaking even worse and tonight i noticed the truck was steering like it had a very low tire.

I stopped in to the gas station and checked the pressures and i was all good at 35psi on each tire, i added an extra 5psi to the fronts and that seemed to take care of the steering issues but the shaking is still pretty bad.

My questions are, would the plugs be enough to throw the tires off balance? I currently have 1 plug in my left front tire and 2 plugs in my right rear. These are winter tires with about 30000kms on them.

Also after work tomorrow i will jack the truck up and take a good look underneath. What should i be looking for? I will check ball joints and tie rods and see if theres any play in the bearings.

What else could be causing these symptoms? The truck has 80000kms and the tie rods were replace within the last 10000kms.

Thanks

If they went crazy with the tarry stuff it could throw it out but a regular amount won't do anything. You could try telling them you want it rebalanced because they used too much or something. Won't take them much time and it will eliminate one possibility.

Everything else you said you're going to check is all that I can think of to check.

Do you swap your winter tires out or run them all year? Do they sit a while or has your truck sat for weeks at a time to cause flat spots on the tires?

Hey i was at the dealership asking questions about my dads car. And they had told me that if a belt in the tire shifts it could cause some weird issues.

And the other thing did they cut the plug to even it with the tread? I have never had a plug but my dad has and the time they did it they took cutters to even the plug out with the tire. So i guess it's small things but doesn't hurt to check.

P.s If the wheels where removed to install the plug which they don't need too but saying make sure that the tires are tightened on there.

ever run over a hot patch in the parking lot and have that nasty sticky tar embedded in the treads? if thats what it feel like. then they over gooped when plugging tires, or they knocked some weights off the rim. the other thing, did they put the tires back on the same side, or switch the? Another very good post was about the steel belts, if they do seperate fom each other, this could cause terrible shaking

Id start with rebalancing or replacing the tires. Since they are winter tires, you wont want to run them much longer anyways. Make sure the front end is inspected before aligning the tires so you dont waste your money on having to get it realigned if something needs replacing.

i made sure they were tight first that is all good.

today though i was losing my power steering and checked the fluid and its very low right now as well, i will be checking out underneath tomorrow.

checked underneath and ball joints, tie rods and bearings are all good. closely inspected my tires and noticed they are scalloped horribly...i will throw on my summer tires this week and these winters will be getting tossed. Luckily they are basically at the end of their lifespan.
The steering issue seems to be my intermediate shaft that is staring to seize up, i lubricated it and the steering is smooth and easy again so i will replace the shaft soon and that should all take care of my issues and i can't wait to be driving a nice smooth truck again because its really been driving like a POS.
