Default effin Deer

Well guys it looks like I had my first ever accident, and all that it would have taken to not happen was 6' more stopping distance, or 1' more movement on the deer.

Luckily it missed the grill, but rolled the fender out, and pushed the headlight in a good 12".

Plus to top it off, this truck never shook in the slightest, now the steering shakes over 45mph, and I found out that the front abs on my truck does not work.

On the interesting side, I made some EPIC skid marks. I am surprised it did so much damage, cause I was almost stopped.

Then I DID'NT EVEN GET THE DEER. Busted truck and no meat in the freezer to boot. Takes three years to find the truck I REALLY wanted, and I cant have it 6 months before some animal has to try and make itself a hood ornament.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe tomorrow Ill upload a few, I was so pissed last night, and looking at it again today that I just didn't want to mess with it.

The claims adjuster is coming out tomorrow, if I remember, Ill take my camera along to work, and snap a couple pics when I meet up with them to get a preliminary quote on repairs.

At least I get to hear the exhaust on a real v8 (push rod style BABY) while I let my Dakota sit. Good ole 318

That sucks man, at least you didn't hit it doing 50. Those things can do a surprising amount of damage at a good speed.

Are you sure your truck has front ABS? It was optional from the factory, not all of the 3g Daks have it. I know I was fairly surprised when I found out mine didn't considering it was bought in Maine (What kind of idiot at the dealer decided front ABS wasn't a good idea up there is beyond me).

Im telling ya man thats the thing that sucks, I mean the skids were epic, but not 6 foot more and I would have had that truck totally stopped. If that deer had moved even 6 more inches, I would have lost at worst a side mirror.

I just talked to an old friend, and he said, Man you look down something happen? I told him about it, and he told me one even better.

His son looked for some car for FOREVER, like 12 years. He finally found one, and the night that he took it home, he saw three deer on the side of the road, so he in his terrified and nervous state totally stopped the car.

That was when another car came by on the other side, and scared the deer, one of them rammed the passenger door.

I about died laughing! Apparently he got out of the car and was trying to chase the deer for a bit. But I feel his pain, maybe not as intense, but yeah I feel it. Just hope it gets fixed right, I don't do body work so this is out of my arena...

So i take it that your airbags didnt go off? If not thats a good thing because airbags=junkyard. Deer can do a serious amount of damage. A family friend did $12k of damage to a brand new colorado hitting a deer at 55mph.
