Yea the last pic is where I mounted the fan controller. To get the old fan off, we ended up using a couple bolts that fit in the holes on the pulley and just used a screw driver to hold it from spinning while someone else loosened the nut.

I made my self one of these out of some steel scrap. Bolted one end together and other end has bolts that fit in the holes in the water pump wheel. Made it very simple to removed. I made mine about 12" long.

Thank you brother, I'm glad it was useful for you. I will be updating that original HHR fan thread soon. I started fabbing up the brackets and used 1/2 rubber tubing on the sides to improve efficiency and is working really well so far.

Fan controller was simple, pretty much just followed the directions, except dont ground the controller even though it says to, kept causing it to throw a over current error for some reason. But otherwise really simple.

And I will definitely update on the MPG I get.

Welcome to the forums!

I want to do this mod so bad. I really hate the rev lag from that stock fan. But my first mod has to be putting in an LSD before next winter. Wasn't too impressed with my 2wd traction. Never had an open diff w/o 4wd.

Please report back with your MPG findings, maybe I can convince the wifeypoo of the benefits haha.
