I know the 4.7 is horrible at breaking the driver side rear bolts on the manifold causing an exhaust leak, kinda makes a lifter ticking noise. On top of that our 4.7 has a horrid record for loud lifter noise, so you need to track down which one is really the issue.
20$ a cut or weld ususally. i spend 130 for my spintech cat and got it installed for 70. and i have a dynomax racebullet muffler thats like 50 bucks on ebay.
an exhaust leak under the hood? you sure its not a manifold leak? I just went with a catback system off ebay for less than $200. Installed it myself.
Well at least it sounded like it was coming from the engine bay but it might be just below me, its hard to tell. It's like a ticking air soyund... if that makes any sense

Well it is kinda like a ticking noise. Pardon my ignorance but what would be lifter noise?

Umm a ticking sounds lol. They both sound very similar. Even if the noise goes away after the truck warms up, it still can be either. Only way to find out is to get in there and look to see if your bolts are snapped. you could also buy some Seafoam and pour some into the throttle body and when it starts smoking, look at the manifold and look for smoke leaking out.
